I spent all day Friday preparing photographs for the FCCT / OnAsia Photo-journalism Contest. As usual I had left it until the last minute and had to do it all rather quickly so I’m under no illusion my submission was all that great but it’s a good process to go through – and it does refresh you on some of the better images you’ve taken in the last 12 months.

I like OnAsia as they utilize local photographers in the Asia/Pacific region with a focus on photojournalism and documentary images.

There were a few parameters for the competition which meant you could only submit images taken within a certain period of subjects that fit into the criteria they wanted. That unfortunately ruled out a lot of images for me but in the end I submitted five feature photographs from Australia and two photography essays – one on living with the aftermath of the Mt Merapi explosion and one on lifestyle in the Maluku Islands (both Indonesia). As the images are not that different from previous ones I’ve added to the blog you can simply click the links above to get an idea.

For the five feature images (that had to be taken in the last 12 months) I enclosed these ones – unfortunately a lot of my travels have been to the UK and the USA in the last 12 months so I didn’t have a lot to choose from.
