One of the most common questions I am asked is how I take photos of people without intruding on their privacy. Every culture is a bit different but I have found it is pretty rare people don't want their photo taken. I never hide behind bushes or do things surreptitiously and if they decline I accept it. In India I have always found people the most gregarious. They are usually absolutely thrilled when you want to photograph them, and even request it, particularly a lot of the women. And as a woman it's always a pleasure to somehow gauge something of their life and personality and share it back with them. This woman was in a tribal village in Orissa and had been watching me all day as I took students around for @camerasforasia. When I came by with one of the girls doing portraits of anyone that was interested (as they would get copies later) she was outside her house waiting for us. The whisper of a smile here says it all.....From the archives: Padaghuda, Orissa, India....#guardiantravelsnaps #bbctravel #lonelyplanet #lonelyplanetindia #festival #wanderlust #explore #travelphotography #visitedplanet #iloveindia #worldtraveller #traveleverywhere #exploretheworld #traveltheworld #opentheworld #instatravel #fromwhereyoudratherbe #wonderful_places #beyourbucketlist #betheadventure #lonelyplanettraveller #natgeotravel #igtravel#portraits #India #women #Orissa - from Instagram
