New gallery: Canal boating images

Images from a week traipsing the canals between Stratford-upon-Avon and Oxford are now online at this link.

Here’s a selection of some of these. You can also click here for a review of “One Man and a Narrowboat: Slowing Down Time on England’s Waterways”; a book I read while cruising the waterways.

Happy new year from Visited Planet

Apologies for the absence of posts over Christmas/New Year.

The start of 2013 has not brought a lot of joy for those enduring bush fires around Australia and those remembering the traumatic 2011 floods of two years ago. However these images of peace, joy and love will hopefully remind us all what is the usual holiday spirit of this time of year and a message for the year ahead.

Happy New Year from Visited Planet.

Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us, and the world will be as one.

Fingers from heaven

I just put a post on Facebook with light shining down from the skies on a recent trek I undertook to Dodital, Uttarkhand (India). To me it looked like fingers from heaven. This inspired me to find some other similar shots using light, reflections or sunlight that in a similar way that rejoice in nature and reflect something of heaven.

Love like you’ll never be hurt,
Sing like there’s nobody listening,
And live like it’s heaven on earth.”

Photo of the day – Devon, England

I worked in Devon for  a few months back in 2001 in a small bed and breakfast on the Dingle Peninsula. I loved the patchwork quilt like fields and the narrow lanes with the hedges. If you were walking or driving down the lanes it could be pretty difficult to pass another vehicle, particularly when the vehicle was also pushing sheep down the road like this one.
