New gallery: Bee keeping

One of my latest hobbies is bee keeping and I spent a weekend recently near Toowoomba learning how to rob a hive. Not only was it a chance to understand these amazing creatures better but also an opportunity to spend time with beekeepers who probably had some 75 years of experience between them.

In between extraction duties I managed to snap a few very quick photos of activities, a rather difficult process with sticky gloved hands. But the result of which is a new gallery on my database – check it out here. I hope to add to this in future when I get my own hives.

Here are some of the images.

“Spread love everywhere you go: first of all in your own house. Give love to your children, to your wife or husband, to a next door neighbor… Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness; kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile, kindness in your warm greeting.” -Mother Theresa

New donations for Cameras for Asia

I received half a dozen cameras yesterday for the Cameras for Asia project, and one the day before. Along with a few others I’ve already received, this makes a great collection for pending trips to Nepal and Burma in the first few months of the year!!

If you have a digital camera you don’t use please consider donating it to Visited Planet.

The other way you can support this project is through the purchase of a 2013 calendar. Currently $345 has been raised to give kids at the Moravian School in North India. This is about half way to the target goal of $750.

If you haven’t bought a 2013 calendar yet, or need to get some Christmas gifts, please consider a purchase of this calendar – all proceeds go direct to the kids.
